A Dream Deferred

A Dream defferd is a powerful poem about the struggles of
African Americans during the Harlem Renaissance.
It is one of the first Poems I recall as a child growing up in
Virginia.
The poem I think will always be relevant, to all people
who seek a better world.
In Iraq, Iran, and places the world over
A dream deffered is a prophetic poem into
what happens when people are not given freedom and hope
A Dream Deferred
by Langston Hughes
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?
Montage of a Dream Deferred (1951), from which a line was taken for the title of the play Raisin in the Sun.
