COLLEGE REPUBLICANS ENDORSE BLACKWELL
COLUMBUS - In another display of Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell's overwhelming grassroots support, several Ohio College Republican organizations have endorsed his candidacy for governor. Endorsements have been issued by the College Republican organizations of Ohio University, Akron University, Capital University and the Franciscan University of Steubenville. In addition, Blackwell earned overwhelming support in official straw polls conducted by the College Republican organizations of The Ohio State University, Baldwin-Wallace College and Kenyon College.
College Republican organizations rarely endorse during primaries, but several have decided to make a unique exception because Blackwell stands for core Republican principles. To date, no College Republican organization has endorsed Blackwell's gubernatorial primary opponent.
"The OU College Republicans felt that it was extremely important to endorse a strong, conservative Republican with a history of supporting limited government, low taxes, strong family values and personal freedom," said Jordan Carr, Ohio University College Republican President.
"Ohio is starved for new ideas and strong leadership," added John Dziurlaj, President of Akron University College Republicans. "Mr. Blackwell has a proven track record of reforming government. In uncertain times, he is a leader who is willing to stand up for Ohio."
"I appreciate the support from College Republican organizations. Their endorsements mean a lot to me," said Blackwell. "As governor, my goal will be to keep these talented young people in our state by creating a healthier business climate that will produce high quality jobs."
