Would Martin Luther King, Jr. be Republican today?

Very few people know that Martin Luther King was a registered Republican,
but what about today; would King, have been a Republican today?

I think both parties Martin would have problems with. Remember, he was a Minister first. I think he would run into the same type of moral decisions many Black Christians run into. He would be wary of those who purport the faith yet their policies do not demostrate it. He would be against the war as he was against Vietnam.

He would stand with the Republicans on most of the moral issues like abortion and gay marriage but probably would have stood against some of other issues like immirgration, affirmative action, and he definately would have been against the wiretapping program. Remember that he was wiretapped and all he wanted was equal rights. He would have supported social programs that help the needy but at the same time worked to make sure those that abused it were dealt with. He would still be a champion of civil rights and at time that would put him at odds with the republicans. I believe he would have been torn as most Blacks are.
