Don Imus and Nappy Headed Hos's

On his "Imus In The Morning" show Thursday, he referred to the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy-
headed hos."

He was talking to Sid Rosenberg with Sports Talk on the phone about the Women's NCAA Championship game.Imus started out talking about the Rutgers team as, "some rough girls from Rutgers.

They got tattoos," and then went on to call them "some nappy-headed hos."He compared them to the Tennessee team, saying "The girls from Tennessee -- they all looked cute." The conversation then went on to compare the game to "the jigaboos versus the wannabes." Media Matters reported that the show's executive producer, Bernard McGuirk, made that comment.

Imus has more to say about those remarks, according to the New York Times. Imus said people should relax and not worry about "some idiot comment meant to be amusing." A Rutgers spokesperson issued a statement saying, "We agree with Mr. Imus that this was, in his own words, an 'idiot comment.' We are very proud of the success of the Rutgers women's basketball team. Coach Stringer and the Rutgers players are outstanding ambassadors for this great institution."

MSNBC released this statement in response to the comments, "While simulcast by MSNBC, 'Imus in the Morning' is not a production of the cable network and is produced by WFAN Radio. As Imus makes clear every day, his views are not those of MSNBC. We regret that his remarks were aired on MSNBC and apologize for these offensive comments."

~The remarks by Imus were racist and unjustified the "n" word is not the only racist comment someone can make. Everyone one on his show knows what he meant when referring to the black girls on the Rutgers team as "nappy headed hoes".
Don Imus himself looks like a dead corpse. He looks like he's been dead for 20 years. He has no business saying who looks rough or cute or who is a nappy headed ho. However I must say I've never seen Sharpton or Jesse get up in public and launch any ampaigns against the multitude of black rap artists who refer to women as ho's and chicken heads etc, in album and after album. There is a double standard but that double standard is no excuse for rationalizing his disgusting behavior!

I do believe in freedom of speech, however I think Imus went too far. I agree about the double standard when it comes to rappers who degrade Sistas and the female rappers who degrade themselves.

I continue to wonder why the media always go to Jesse and Al like they are Black royalty. Jesse needs to stop extorting corporate America for his own benefit. He is the king of the shakedown. Al needs to shut up and cut off his perm. Both of these guys would be out of business if race relations improve. But they wouldn't be happy if there was no racial issues.

Jesse was on the Today Show trying to extort NBC and the media as a whole. His comments saying, "Let's diversify the media right now," had nothing to do with what Imus said or any remedy for the situation.

If the media was "diversified" according to his standards, his sons would benefit again just like they did when he shook down Budweiser. Jesse needs to pay his child support and shut up!

Jesse and Al do not speak for me and I'm tired of seeing the media run to them.

Wasn't it Jesse Jackson himself who called Jewish people "hymies" in the middle of a Presidential campaign? Didn't he wait several days before he asked for forgiveness?

Sharpton has been after vulgar rappers for years, as has Dolores Tucker and many others. Because he was going after Black rappers, it got little or no press. Guess that just didn't feed into the Sharpton racist theory. Both Sharpton & Tucker have been very vocal in their distaste for the disrespect some rappers have shown towards Black women. However, since 80% of Rap music buyers are white males between 12-17 yrs old and the lyrics are against Black women, they have been ignored. This fight has been ongoing since the early 90's. Blacks are about 10% of the population, so I'm guessing that Black males are 5% or less than the total Black population, so they don't contribute significantly to the corporate bottom line. The record companies are not about to let go of their cash cow. At least not willingly.
